Set by Hand. Laid to Last.
Patios & Walkways to Guide & Gather On
Where Stonework Becomes Structure
A patio isn’t just a place to stand. A walkway isn’t just a way to get somewhere. At Brandywine, they’re built elements that define movement, hold grade, and set the tone for everything else around them. We use reclaimed materials, tight joints, and wet-lay techniques to create surfaces that feel rooted to the site. Clean, level, and built with care, that’s what sets our hardscapes apart.
Built Underfoot. Designed to Hold Attention
Your patio anchors your outdoor space. Our team designs and constructs outdoor surfaces that do more than support furniture, they establish flow, reveal structure, and connect indoor and outdoor environments with intent.

“Brandywine and Mark did a fantastic job with our project - from the initial design all the way through implementation. We had a full project ranging from stone fireplace and patio, deck, grill area, front walkway and landscaping all around the house. Everyone on the Brandywine team was friendly and true professionals, and could tell they take pride in their work. The stone masonry work Brandywine does is top notch. We continue to use Brandywine for seasonal landscaping work. Would highly recommend!”

Brandywine Designs works with natural stone, bluestone, flagstone, and reclaimed materials selected for long-term performance in the southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware climate rather than for ease of installation or low upfront material cost. Wet-lay installation, in which stone is set in a mortar bed rather than dry-laid on sand or gravel, is the standard for Brandywine's patio work because it produces superior joint stability, better drainage management, and a surface that holds its level through freeze-thaw cycles over many years. Material selections are made during the design phase so the finished patio or walkway integrates with the architecture and existing landscape rather than reading as a surface dropped onto the site.
-
Sloped and technically complex sites are where Brandywine's combination of design expertise and masonry skill produces the most distinctive results, because grade changes that other contractors work around or minimize become defining features in a Brandywine design. The firm uses grading, retaining walls, and level changes to create distinct outdoor zones, transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, and elevated terraces that maximize usable area without fighting the natural topography of the property. The design phase includes a full site assessment that maps slope, drainage, and access before any layout decisions are made.
-
Brandywine Designs routinely integrates seating walls, fire features, planting beds, and lighting into patio designs as part of a cohesive installation rather than as afterthought add-ons. This integrated approach is possible because the same firm handles design, masonry, and horticulture, so every element is planned and built to work together from the start. Clients who want a complete outdoor environment, rather than just a paved surface, consistently find this single-firm model produces better results than coordinating multiple contractors with separate scopes.
